Corinthian Homes hosted its very first community charity fireworks event in Hayle on Sunday 7th November, raising over £1500 for the local food bank!

Thankfully the weather was kind, and the evening was dry and mild with very little wind. A crowd of over 700 people gathered at the Hilltop car park site to enjoy the amazing firework display coordinated by Sonic Fireworks and Events.  There was another estimated 200+ gathered along the North Quay development and reportedly approximately 800+ across the estuary at the original site of Penpol Creek. It was the largest fireworks display that the town has seen for many years and there was a round of applause from the crowd at the climax of the epic 20-minute display.

It was an event that Corinthian hope to host annually at North Quay as it proved to be popular with the people who attended. A traditional fireworks display was not a decision that was taken lightly, as there is an acute awareness that sustainability is being promoted at the development at North Quay, with fireworks causing both noise and environmental pollution.

Gathering in one place for a bigger community display results in fewer emissions than lots of small, private events, and as this was organised to raise donations to the local food bank, it was felt that this year, the benefit outweighed the cost. Spectators not only got to enjoy a spectacular display but also helped to make a difference in their community.

Moving forward, the annual event will be made as sustainable as possible, and many avenues are being explored, from more eco-conscious, quiet fireworks, to a drone light show. Watch this space…!
